In the USA, a trained otter helped in the search for missing people
In the United States, a trained otter helps search teams find missing people and physical evidence underwater. This was reported by the CBS News channel.
The publication reports that the Asian short-toed otter named Splash works with the organization Peace River Search and Rescue, which is the only one in the world where these animals are trained in such missions.
According to the head of the group, Michael Hadsell, first a dog is used for the search, which determines the area, and then the otter is sent underwater to accurately detect the target.
"He (Splash — Ed.) dives, finds an object, returns and informs us, and then leads us to the find," explained Hadsell.
According to the TV channel, Splash has already participated in 27 search operations across the country and successfully found what he was looking for six times. On Monday, the animal was involved in Pensacola in the search for Robin Whitmire, 37, who was later found alive elsewhere.
At the end of December last year in the UK, a cat named Bindi, who disappeared in 2020, returned home before Christmas. The owner of the pet, Jilly Fretwell, searched for a pet for a year after the disappearance, but then lost hope. However, five years later, the woman suddenly received a call from the veterinary clinic, saying that Bindi was being treated by doctors.
