- The perpetrator of the assassination attempt on Alekseev had known his accomplice Vasin for 20 years
Lyubomir Korba, the perpetrator of the assassination attempt on Lieutenant General Alekseev, and his accomplice Viktor Vasin have known each other for at least 20 years. This was announced on February 8 by a source of Izvestia.
It also became known that Vasin was held accountable for supporting the Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK, recognized as an extremist and terrorist organization, a foreign agent and banned in the Russian Federation).
Viktor Vasin lived in the north-west of Moscow and was engaged in entrepreneurship and management. In the 1980s, Viktor graduated from the branch of the Military Academy of Communications. He also improved his satellite communication skills at the Central Officers' Club of the USSR Armed Forces. He has a lot of debts to the FSSP, as well as activities in support of the extremist FBK.
Much less is known about the killer Korbe from Ukraine, but he and Viktor were familiar back in the 2000s. In the 2010s, Lubomir lived in the Moscow district of Bogorodskoye and Ramenskoye near Moscow, but later returned to his native Ternopil. According to the Investigative Committee, the Ukrainian special services sent him to Moscow in December to commit a terrorist attack.
On February 6, an unknown man fired several shots at Alekseev, after which he fled the scene. The victim was taken to one of the city hospitals. On February 7, Alekseev regained consciousness after the assassination attempt.
A criminal case has been opened into the incident, and the Moscow Prosecutor's Office has taken control of the investigation. The criminal case is being investigated under articles on attempted murder and illegal trafficking of firearms. Later, the Investigative Committee reported that an article about an attempt on the life of a serviceman had been added to the case.
On February 8, it became known about the arrest of the perpetrator of the assassination attempt and his accomplice. Another accomplice is Zinaida Serebritskaya, born in 1971. She managed to leave for Ukraine. The FSB also distributed video surveillance footage from the scene of the attack on Alekseev. They show how the killer enters the residential complex, and after the attack throws the gun into a snowdrift. He then leaves the crime scene on public transport.
