Czech Prime Minister Andrei Babis called on the leaders of the European Union to start negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin. This was reported on February 8 by the portal TN.CZ .

"European leaders have started saying that Europe is negotiating with Putin. Earlier, when [the Hungarian Prime Minister] Viktor Orban visited [Ukrainian President Vladimir] Zelensky and Putin were all condemned," Babish said.

The Czech Prime minister also stated the need to restore direct dialogue with Moscow, calling it a condition for a cease-fire.

Babis said on January 19 that the Czech Republic would not sell its own L-159 aircraft to Ukraine. According to him, the issue of selling equipment to Kiev was discussed at a meeting of the leaders of the ruling coalition of the Czech Republic. The Minister of Defense of the Republic, Jaromir Zunu, stated that the aircraft's service life ends only in 2040, so the Czech army still needs them.
