A Makarov pistol with a silencer was found at the scene of the assassination attempt on General Alekseev, and it was established that the attacker fired at least three shots. This was announced on February 8 by the official representative of the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia Svetlana Petrenko.
"The investigation conducted a thorough inspection at the scene, during which the weapon of the crime was discovered — a Makarov pistol with a silencer installed and three cartridges," the agency said in a statement on its website.
Investigators have ordered more than 15 forensic examinations, including genetic, fingerprint, tracological, molecular genetic, physico-chemical and others.
Viktor Vasin, an accomplice in the commission of the crime, was detained as soon as possible in the Moscow region. It has also been confirmed that Zinaida Serebritskaya, who traveled to Ukraine, was involved in the crime.
On February 6, an unknown man fired several shots at Alekseev, after which he fled the scene. The victim was taken to one of the city hospitals. On February 7, Alekseev regained consciousness after the assassination attempt.
A criminal case has been opened into the incident, and the Moscow Prosecutor's Office has taken control of the investigation. The criminal case is being investigated under articles on attempted murder and illegal trafficking of firearms. The courtyard of the house where the attempted murder of the Lieutenant General took place was cordoned off.
The perpetrator of the assassination attempt on Lieutenant General Vladimir Alekseev was detained in Dubai on February 8 and handed over to Russia. This is a Russian citizen, Korba Lyubomir, born in 1960.
