The perpetrator and accomplice of the assassination attempt on Lieutenant General Vladimir Alekseev have been detained. This was announced on February 8 by the FSB's Public Relations Center.

"As a result of the operational search measures carried out by the Federal Security Service within the framework of the criminal case initiated by the Investigative Committee on the attempted murder of the First Deputy Chief of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Lieutenant General Vladimir Alekseev, accomplices of this crime were identified, Russian citizens Viktor Vasin, born in 1959, detained in Moscow, and Zinaida Serebritskaya, who left for Ukraine in 1971 G.
