As a result of a collision between a car and a truck on the Baikal highway in the Irkutsk region, three people were killed. This was announced on February 8 by the State Traffic Inspectorate for the region.

"According to preliminary data, a 26-year—old girl, driving a Toyota Corolla, was moving from Irkutsk, lost control and entered the oncoming traffic lane, as a result of which she collided with a truck," the agency said in a Telegram channel.

As a result of the incident, the driver of the car and two child passengers born in 2017 and 2020 died at the scene of the accident. It was previously established that the driver of the passenger car was wearing a seat belt, and minor passengers were transported without violating the rules of transportation. An investigative and operational group is working on the site.

A fatal accident involving a bus occurred in the Rybinsk municipal district on February 2. An Iveco truck towing a modular house lost its trailer — it disconnected, drove into the oncoming lane and crashed into a passenger Gazelle. There were 13 people in her cabin: teenagers and escorts. As a result of the accident, five people were killed — four teenagers and one 31-year-old escort. Several more people were hospitalized with injuries of varying severity.

The truck driver, who became the culprit of a traffic accident with the dead, was detained in accordance with Article 91 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Russian Federation.
