In China, at least eight people were killed in an explosion at a biotech plant in Shanxi Province. This was reported on February 8 by the Xinhua news Agency, citing local authorities.

"As of 9:30 (04:30 Moscow time. On Sunday morning, the death toll from an explosion at a biotech plant in Shanxi Province, Northern China, rose to eight people," the publication says.

It is noted that the explosion occurred in the Shanyin county of the city of Shozhou on the territory of the enterprise of the Jiapeng biotechnology company. A special group was formed to investigate the causes of the incident.

"The company's legal entity has been taken under control," the agency noted.

On January 29, the Argentine newspaper La Nación reported an explosion at the factory of the cosmetics export company Otowil, which started a fire. It is reported that the fire spread to other houses. According to local residents, the explosion was so strong that it was heard even in the neighboring area.
