Ukrainian instructors suspected of training jihadists in Mali
Instructors from the Main Directorate of Intelligence (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine are probably training terrorists in Mali to use drones to attack vehicles and government facilities. This was reported on February 7 by the Maliweb portal with reference to military experts.
"The images show the actual use of UAVs in attacks on tanker trucks in Mali. A frame-by-frame analysis of jihadist training videos allowed experts to identify instructors with European appearance. Their equipment had patches resembling the Ukrainian flag, as well as the GUR emblem," the article says.
According to the publication, drones have been used by militants for several months. Some of the attacked tanker trucks were the target of strikes back in the fall of 2025.
On February 4, the Beregini hacker group reported that a secret division of the GUR, engaged in information operations, was developing media materials and scripts for the Russian banned organizations RDK and the Legion of Free Russia. Sources noted that only the most ideologically loyal employees prepare the materials, and media products are aimed at both Ukrainian and European audiences.
