A police inspector was killed and 13 people were injured when an amusement ride collapsed at a fair in the suburbs of the Indian capital Delhi. This was announced on February 7 by the Faridabad district police.

"As a result of the incident, about 13 people were injured. They were rushed to the hospital by ambulances. The police inspector was pronounced dead on arrival; he was trying to save people when the attraction began to fall," Police Commissioner Ayusha Sinhi said on the social network X (formerly Twitter).

According to authorities, the policeman suffered fatal injuries when a part of the structure hit him on the head. A criminal case has been opened against the operator of the attraction. The Chief Minister of Haryana, Nayab Saini, expressed his condolences to the family of the deceased and said that the Government would provide all necessary assistance to the victims.

Last August, an eight-year-old child died riding an aerial attraction in Nessebar, Bulgaria. It was clarified that the boy made his flight with his mother at the resort during parasailing. The cause of the tragedy was a broken cable. According to the newspaper, the boy fell into the water from a height of about 40 m. Rescuers were able to bring him to land, but he later died. The mother was not injured.
