Humennik's first coach noted his advantage over other skaters
Russian figure skater Pyotr Gumennik has been distinguished by his perseverance since childhood and has already outgrown all his competitors from that age. On February 7, the first coach of the athlete, Tatyana Yurysheva, told Izvestia about this.
"He outgrew even those who were much taller than him, [who were] competitors. <...> Petka — well done! I am very happy and happy for him. I saw the potential right away," she said.
Yurysheva noted that when Humennik started skating at the age of four, he was the smallest in the group and did not have outstanding natural abilities. However, the child immediately showed a stubborn character and a responsible attitude to training.
"For me, as a coach, it is very important when a child works hard. And when he understands and is interested in the process, <... He wants something for himself," Yurysheva emphasized.
According to her, the figure skater was "stubborn" and could "puff a hundred times" without leaving the ice until he achieved a result.
Earlier that day, it was reported that Humennik was banned from performing at the Olympics to the soundtrack from "The Perfumer" due to copyright issues. In response to the injustice towards the athlete, social media users launched a hashtag, which translated into Russian sounds like "Let Peter Humennik ride under the "Perfumer".
Figure skating coach Tatiana Tarasova told Izvestia that Humennik successfully performed at the Olympic selection to the soundtrack of "Perfumer", and then they did not warn about possible copyright problems. She also called the situation around the performance of the Russian athlete disgusting.
