Irakli Arabidze, Deputy Director of the Department of International Activities of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, was taken into custody after being charged with bribery and fraud. As follows from the card of his case on February 7 on the official portal of the courts of general jurisdiction of Moscow, the defendant appealed the arrest.
Arabidze is charged with crimes under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Fraud on an especially large scale") and Part 6 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Receiving a bribe on an especially large scale").
He was placed in a pre-trial detention center, and the Basmanny Court granted the request for his arrest.
Vadim Khasenov, the former deputy director of the department, was also arrested and charged under similar articles. If the defendants' guilt is proven, they may face up to 15 years in prison. The Moscow City Court will consider their complaint about the arrest at a meeting on February 18.
On February 6, the Zheleznodorozhny District Court of Novosibirsk sent Mikhail Metelkin, director of the Special Chemistry business unit of TVEL JSC, part of the Rosatom State Corporation, into custody on charges of bribery. It was found that from July 2020 to April 2022, the defendant transferred about 950 thousand rubles to the deputy general director, commercial director of the Novosibirsk Chemical Concentrates Plant, so that he would speed up payment under contracts for the supply of raw materials and its acceptance ahead of schedule.
