Podolskaya's expert named the average size of the social pension after the indexation on April 1

The average size of the social pension in Russia after indexation on April 1, 2026 will exceed 16.5 thousand rubles. This was announced on February 7 by the expert of the Presidential Academy Tatiana Podolskaya.

"Starting from April 1, 2026, social pensions will be indexed by 6.8%. The indexation amount is linked to the federal pensioner's living wage, which has been 16,288 rubles since January 1, 2026. If we focus on the data of the Social Fund of Russia, which estimated the average size of the social pension on October 1, 2025 in the amount of 15 514.1 rubles, then after the indexation on April 1, 2026, the average size of the social pension will be 16 569.06 rubles," said Podolskaya.

The expert clarified that the actual amount of the payment will depend on its type and the availability of regional surcharges and coefficients.

The indexation will affect families with children, pensioners, the disabled and other beneficiaries.

The day before, the Russian Ministry of Labor announced that social pensions are planned to be indexed by 6.8% starting from April 1. It was noted that the amount of indexation of social pensions is set annually by the government, taking into account the increase in the living wage of a pensioner in Russia over the previous year.
