At the Olympic Games in Milan, the Swiss women's national ice hockey team was isolated after the detection of norovirus in one of the athletes. This was announced on February 6 on the website of the Swiss Hockey Federation.

"A positive case of norovirus was reported in the Swiss women's hockey team last night. The injured athlete has been in a separate room since arriving at the Olympic village on February 2 and has been isolated from the team since the onset of symptoms," the statement said.

It is reported that the positive test result became known after the victory of the national team over the Czech team and shortly before the opening ceremony of the Games. As a precautionary measure, the entire team was isolated after consulting with medical experts and missed participation in the opening ceremony. None of the other hockey players have shown symptoms yet.

The opening ceremony of the Winter Olympic Games began the day before. The competition will be held until February 22.

The first competitions of the 2026 Winter Olympics started on February 4 in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo.
