Junior Sergeant Safonov led the assault on the AFU stronghold

Junior Sergeant Ivan Safonov, the squad leader of a motorized rifle platoon, personally led the assault on the enemy stronghold. The press service of the Russian Ministry of Defense reported on the exploits of servicemen of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in the special military operation zone on February 7.

It is noted that after receiving the order to seize the base, Safonov's assault group secretly moved to its starting position. As they advanced towards the target, the fighters continued to remain unnoticed. However, when approaching closely, the group was spotted by a Ukrainian drone, as a result of which the area was shelled by enemy artillery.

Without delay, the junior sergeant gave the command to storm, after which he personally led the group. Before the start of the operation, the commander pre-allocated targets for each serviceman, as a result of which the Russian Armed Forces rapidly broke into positions and were able to destroy the enemy.

Further, despite the strikes of drones and artillery, the stormtroopers were able to organize the defense and hold the occupied lines until the arrival of the reinforcement group.

The Defense Ministry also said that Sergeant Pavel Ishbayev, a radio operator with the howitzer artillery battalion, repaired the communications line breakage. During the work, he was attacked by a drone of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), but was able to shoot down the target and continue to restore communication. As a result, his actions made it possible to restore the communication system and inflict fire damage on the advancing Ukrainian militants.
