On February 17, an annular solar eclipse will be visible from Antarctica, Chile, Argentina and South Africa. This was announced on February 7 by Vitaly Frantsev, lecturer at the Perm Planetarium.

"A spectacular annular solar eclipse will occur on February 17, and can be observed at 15:10 Moscow time. Unfortunately, the "ring of fire" phase will only be visible from Antarctica. It will be impossible to see this from the territory of Russia," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

It is noted that an annular eclipse is called because the Moon passes between the Earth and the Sun, while being as far away from our planet as possible, which allows you to create the effect of a "ring of fire" when passing in front of the Sun.

From February 1, Earth's inhabitants will be able to observe all the planets of the Solar system in the sky, except Mars. The moon will be visible in the evening sky after February 18. In addition, an annular solar eclipse will be observed in Antarctica on February 17.
