Slovakia announced its intention to challenge the EU ban on Russian gas imports in court.

Slovakia and Hungary intend to challenge in court the decision of the European Union (EU) to impose a ban on gas imports from Russia. This was announced on February 7 by the Deputy Speaker of the Slovak Parliament, Tibor Gaspar.

"Both countries plan to file lawsuits with the Court of Justice of the European Union, since, in the opinion of their governments, this decision violates the basic principles of the EU, in particular, the principles of subsidiarity and proportionality, and energy still belongs to national competence," he told TASS.
