The United States has deployed an aircraft carrier strike group to the Arabian Sea
The strike aircraft carrier group of the US Navy, led by the aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln, made the transition to the Arabian Sea. This was announced on February 6 by the Central command of the US Armed Forces (CENTCOM) on the social network X.
"The Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier strike Group, accompanied by two supply vessels and two U.S. Coast Guard boats, made a joint crossing into the Arabian Sea today," the command said in a statement.
CENTCOM also clarified that military aircraft providing escort flew over the group of ships during the transition.
Columnist Jack Buckby reported on January 29 in an article for 19FortyFive that the Varshavyanka submarines in service with Iran could pose a serious threat to the US Navy's aircraft carrier strike groups in the Persian Gulf. According to him, these submarines are characterized by low visibility and are capable of carrying heavy torpedoes and laying mines. At the same time, Iran, according to the author, has only three such submarines, and their number and age may limit the country's operational capabilities.
