The United States wants to fine two contractor companies that were responsible for the delay in the supply of artillery ammunition to Ukraine. This was reported by Bloomberg on February 5.

"The US Army intends to collect fines from Northrop Grumman Corp. and Global Military Products Inc. for delays in the supply of artillery ammunition to Ukraine, which is an example of the Pentagon's efforts to increase the responsibility of defense contractors," the publication says.

It is noted that as a result of the contractors' actions, some ammunition was delivered 18 months late. Compensation in the amount of $1.1 million is expected to be collected for the delay in sending large-caliber shells. Currently, the U.S. Army Contracting Command (ACC) is still assessing the possible amount of the fine, the exact amount has not been disclosed.

"The army is determined to hold contractors accountable by actively monitoring the execution of contracts, documenting the results of work and applying contractual measures in case of non—compliance," the military department noted.

A Northrop Grumman representative confirmed that the statement by the US military was true. At the same time, Global Military Products did not respond to calls and letters asking for clarification of the situation.

In August 2025, the US Department of State approved the sale of equipment and repair services for M777 howitzers to Ukraine in the amount of $104 million. It is noted that the main contractor under the contract will be BAE Systems, based in the UK. Kiev will also be provided with a package of cargo transportation services and all the necessary equipment.
