Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis, Chairman of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), brought to Moscow as a gift to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov a music box that reproduces a composition by Pyotr Tchaikovsky. This was announced on February 6 by the official representative of the Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

"[It was presented] with a reminder that on January 15, 1890, the premiere of the ballet The Sleeping Beauty, based on a 17th-century European fairy tale, took place on the stage of the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg. This is exactly how the guests explained the choice of the gift," Zakharova wrote on the Telegram channel.

Cassis handed the box to the Russian minister with the words: "To remember that Russia is a part of Europe." In response, Lavrov presented the OSCE Chairman with a box with an image of the Kremlin and reminded him "that Russia is a part of history."

On February 5, Kassis flew to Moscow together with OSCE Secretary General Feridun Sinirlioglu. He noted that this visit confirms the organization's readiness to act as a platform for dialogue to achieve peace in accordance with international law and the Helsinki Principles.

Zakharova said on February 2 that Lavrov would hold talks with Kassis in Moscow on Friday, February 6. She clarified that overcoming the OSCE crisis was on the agenda of the negotiations. The parties will discuss the restoration of military-political, economic, environmental and humanitarian security in Europe and the role of the organization in these processes.
