The control, ethical and disciplinary body of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) has decided to award technical defeats to the Estonian and Lithuanian women's youth national teams in the qualifying matches of the European Under-17 Championship. The decision was a consequence of the refusal of both teams to play against the national team of Belarus. This was announced on February 6 by the press service of the Belarusian Football Federation (ABFF).

"Due to the refusal of the Estonian Football Federation and the Lithuanian Football Federation to participate in the qualifying matches of the UEFA European Under-17 Championship against the national team of Belarus under-17, the decision of the control, ethical and disciplinary body of UEFA for the national teams of Estonia and Lithuania under-17 scored technical defeats with a score of 0:3," the message says.

The match between the national team of Estonia and Belarus was scheduled to take place on March 27, and the meeting of Lithuania and Belarus was scheduled for April 2.

The ABFF press service clarified that the exact information about the remaining match of the Belarusian national team against the Maltese team will be published later. Prior to that, it was scheduled for March 30th.

On February 1, former champion Khabib Nurmagomedov named three possible winners at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. In his opinion, the winners should be France, Spain and Portugal.
