The import of passenger car tires from China to Russia in 2025 fell by 4% compared to the previous year, which was a record. Last year, tire imports from China to Russia reached $510.15 million, Kommersant reported on February 6, citing data from the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China. This result was 3.3 times higher than in 2021.

According to the interlocutors of the publication, the slight decrease is due to the decline in the Russian car market and large remnants of tire products that remained from the previous year. Also, changes in monetary terms can be explained by the dynamics of exchange rates.

Cordiant Holding estimated a 10% decrease in the activity of Chinese tire importers last year, but attributed this to a movement towards normal indicators against the background of record imports in 2024. At that time, Chinese brands accounted for 70% of tire imports to Russia.

According to experts, there are now more than 200 Chinese brands of passenger tires on the Russian market. Brands from China occupy a third of the Russian tire market. Some analysts predicted that imports of passenger car tires from China would continue to decline due to the updated environmental levy.

At the end of December last year, it was reported that Roskachestvo specialists examined car tires and found an excess of dangerous carcinogens in Chinese-made products, while all tested Russian tires complied with GOST and were recognized as safe.
