BMW will introduce a subscription model for using some of its car options. In the case of the new iX3 electric crossover, the German manufacturer will offer to pay monthly for features such as all-round cameras and advanced autonomous driving systems. This was reported by Carscoops on February 6.

All-round view cameras and the Driving Assistant Pro system, which includes autopilot-type systems, will be installed on all iX3 crossovers by default, regardless of configuration, but a subscription will be required to unlock them. It is not yet specified how much it will cost to use these functions.

As BMW representatives explained, the availability of subscriptions can be useful for those car owners who may change their minds about the importance of a particular function in the process of owning a car.

Some BMW models already require a subscription fee to use certain features. For example, in Australia, adaptive suspension will cost 29 local dollars per month (about 1.5 thousand rubles in translation), the local edition of Drive clarifies.

In 2022, BMW was criticized when it decided to introduce a subscription fee for heated seats, and later recognized this experiment as unsuccessful.

BMW will start equipping all its cars with updated nameplates with the brand's logo. As clarified on February 2, the new badge has lost its chrome elements: the inner ring, which previously had a black outer circle from the blue and white quadrants symbolizing the colors of the flag of Bavaria, and the edging around them. The blue and white became more saturated, and the black ring changed from a glossy finish to a matte finish.
