The investor spoke about the impact of noise and notifications on mental health
Modern megacities are increasingly becoming a source of not only acoustic, but also visual and digital noise. Citizens face a daily stream of ads, screens, smartphone notifications, a high density of people and the constant need to make decisions — from work tasks to everyday details. Such an environment creates a chronic overload of attention and increases stress levels. On February 9, Artur Terisayan, an investor in the Papushevo Park and Monavi Presidency projects, told Izvestia.
According to psychologists and neuroscientists, constant filtering of stimuli leads to fatigue, anxiety, and decreased concentration. Even during the holidays, many people continue to be "connected" to work chats and emails, which maintains high cortisol levels and prevents the nervous system from fully recovering. The rhythm of the metropolis perpetuates a culture of continuous accessibility, in which silence is perceived as a rare pause that needs to be filled.
Terisayan stated that it is a calm environment, fresh air and contact with nature that allow a person to quickly get out of a state of constant tension. According to him, staying in the country helps to slow down, take your mind off the screens and regain a sense of inner balance. He noted that more and more people are looking for not just a house, but a comprehensive environment for restoration — with privacy, green areas and a well-thought-out infrastructure.
"There are several types of noise that affect the nervous system. The physical one is associated with transport, construction sites, and household appliances, the informational one is associated with news feeds and messengers, and the psychological one is manifested in a constant sense of control and the need to keep a multitude of tasks in mind. Even in their own homes, this burden often does not disappear, but is transformed into everyday and organizational issues — from safety and operation to interaction with services and services," the expert explained.
The investor stressed that in the new formats of the residential environment, they are increasingly trying to transfer some of these processes to professional management companies in order to reduce the daily cognitive burden on residents. When everyday tasks are solved imperceptibly, a person has more time and resources for family, recreation and personal interests, and the level of internal tension is noticeably reduced.
As a result, the city is increasingly perceived as a space for work, while suburban housing is seen as an environment for recovery and psychological comfort.
"Silence is gradually becoming a new form of mental and physical health care, and the leisurely rhythm of suburban life helps the nervous system to get out of the noise and constant racing mode and return to a state of balance," the expert concluded.
On February 2, lawyer and labor law expert Valentina Yakovleva told Izvestia whether she could be fired for noisy behavior at work. According to her, the Labor Code of the Russian Federation lacks a direct basis for dismissal for laughing or talking in the workplace. However, the employer may terminate the contract under the article on repeated failure to perform official duties if the employee has previously been disciplined.
