Former striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who now works as an adviser to the president of the Milan football club Paolo Scaroni, took part in the Olympic torch relay of the 2026 Winter Games on February 6 and carried the torch.

The opening ceremony of the Olympic Games is taking place in Milan on Friday, February 6. Representatives of Russia are not taking part in the official ceremony. At the same time, 13 Russian athletes will compete at the Games themselves — they are declared under a neutral status and without national symbols.

The final events of the Olympiad are scheduled for February 22. The closing ceremony will take place in Verona at one of Italy's most famous historical venues, the Arena di Verona.

Ibrahimovic ended his playing career in 2023. His last club was Milan. The Swede also played for Los Angeles Galaxy, Manchester United, PSG, Barcelona, Inter, Juventus, Ajax and Malmo, adds Sport-Express.

The first competitions of the 2026 Winter Olympics kicked off on February 4 in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo. On the same day, curling competitions were interrupted due to power supply problems. At the same time, the problems were fixed five minutes later.
