Dog handlers talked about the dog's recognition of human fear
Human fear has a smell, and dogs are able to recognize it — however, this does not mean that the animal will necessarily react with aggression. This was announced by the President of the Russian Cynological Federation, Vladimir Golubev, on Friday, February 6.
According to him, the ability of dogs to "read" human emotions is not related to mysticism or telepathy. We are talking about a combination of a developed sense of smell and high powers of observation. Animals do not have abstract thinking, but they respond well to changes in human behavior and physiological state.
Research shows that emotions are accompanied by hormonal changes that affect the smell of sweat. These differences cannot be detected by humans, but they are quite distinguishable for dogs. By the same principle, some animals are able to detect diseases or sudden fluctuations in blood sugar levels. Under stress, the human body begins to smell differently, and the dog detects this.
At the same time, the smell of fear is not an unambiguous trigger of aggression, Golubev said in an interview with Radio 1. Experiments have shown that dogs' reactions to such signals vary: some animals exhibit anxious behavior, others may become more agitated or aggressive, and others do not show a noticeable reaction.
Body language remains an additional factor. Tension, sudden movements, and fussiness are also perceived by animals and can increase their alertness. The final reaction depends on the dog's upbringing, the level of its socialization, previous experience with people and the presence of a nearby owner.
Dog handlers recommend staying calm when meeting unfamiliar dogs, moving confidently and smoothly, avoiding direct eye contact and harsh gestures. Special care should be taken when contacting street animals that do not have a stable experience of interacting with humans, as their behavior can be unpredictable.
Golubev on February 5 told about the rules of massage for dogs. Golubev stressed that massage does not replace the basic treatment that a veterinarian should prescribe, RT notes. However, it can help relieve muscle tension, improve blood circulation, and strengthen the bond between a person and a pet. 360.ru .
Golubev, in an interview with the Moscow City News agency on February 3, said that scars, aggressive behavior, or, conversely, excessive obsessive petting in a dog may be signs that the animal has been abused.
Golubev said on February 2 that excessive diligence in training and teaching a pet the wrong commands can harm his psyche and pose a threat to others. One of the most dangerous and unnecessary commands in everyday life is the "Fas". Raising a pet for protective functions is a serious responsibility.
