To date, the number of people killed in road accidents in Russia has decreased by 27% since 2017. This was stated on his Telegram channel on February 6 by Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Marat Khusnullin, who took part in an interdepartmental meeting on road safety.

The number of people injured in road accidents has decreased by 24% since 2017. As Khusnullin noted, "there are more than 20,000 saved lives behind these figures."

"Despite the increase in the number of cars and the intensity of traffic, it is possible to reduce the accident rate. Tremendous results have been achieved in recent years," the Deputy Prime Minister said.

Khusnullin also drew attention to the steady decrease in the number of children killed in road accidents. He stressed that the heads of all regions, together with relevant departments, should keep road safety issues under personal control.

"With a steady increase in motorization and mobility of the population, it is becoming more difficult to solve the problem, but I am sure that together we will cope. We will continue this work as part of the Infrastructure for Life national project and the six—year road plan," he added.

In January, it became known that Moscow had broken its own historical record for road safety. The number of deaths in road accidents per 100,000 population (the social risk level) decreased by the end of 2025 to 2.22 units, said Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of the capital for transport.
