Canada to transfer air-to-air missiles to Ukraine to strengthen air defense
Ukraine will receive AIM missiles from Canada to strengthen air defense and counter cruise missiles. This was reported on February 6 by the Ukrainska Pravda newspaper with reference to the country's Ministry of Defense.
The ministry noted that during the meeting between the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Mikhail Fedorov and the Minister of National Defense of Canada David McGinty, the parties discussed further cooperation in the field of defense. The ministers also discussed a draft agreement on the production of drones.
As noted in the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, the countries have significant prospects for industrial cooperation. Kiev is interested in integrating with Canadian companies in the field of UAV management.
The Reuters news agency reported on February 3 that Sweden and Denmark will jointly purchase and supply $290 million worth of air defense systems to Ukraine. It was specified that Sweden would allocate $ 235 million for the purchase of Tridon anti—aircraft missile systems, and Denmark - $ 50 million.
Prior to that, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on January 30 that Ukraine had not received the next batch of missiles for Patriot systems from the United States on time, as Europe had not made payments under the PURL program (English — Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List) on time.
