On February 6, Japanese speed skater Tatsuya Shinama, the world champion in the sprint all-around, called the atmosphere in the Olympic Village in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo frightening.

Sinama noted that the area where it is located is on the outskirts of the city and makes an alarming impression.

"The area around the village is in the suburbs. The atmosphere is a little scary," Nikkan Sports newspaper quoted him as saying.

According to the athlete, the situation in the village seems unsafe, especially at night, which is why Sinama prefers not to go outside and be careful.

Honored Russian Figure Skating Coach Eteri Tutberidze arrived in Milan, Italy, on February 2 ahead of the 2026 Winter Olympics. A speed skater from Kazakhstan, Evgeny Koshkin, posted a photo with her on social networks, taking a picture at the guest complexes in the Olympic Village.
