On Sunday, February 8, skier Yulia Pleshkova will perform at the Olympic Games in Italy. The athlete will take part in the downhill competitions, which will begin at 13:30 Moscow time. Pleshkova will represent Russia in a neutral status, without using national symbols.
The skier will also take part in the supergiant competition on February 12 (Thursday) at 13:30 Moscow time.
Yulia Pleshkova was born on May 17, 1997 in the Kamchatka city of Yelizovo in the family of Mikhail and Tatiana Pleshkov. She has a brother, Alexey, following whose example the future athlete wanted to go into big-time sports.
Pleshkova made her debut at the Russian Championship in 2014. In 2016, she won the Russian Cup in downhill and 20th place at the Junior World Championships in combination. In 2017, she took bronze in the parallel team race at the Universiade. In 2018, he won bronze at the Junior World Championships in downhill and gold at the Russian Championships in the same discipline. In 2021, she won gold at the Russian Supergiant Championship in Yelizovo and the European Cup stage.
After the Russians were banned from participating in international competitions in 2022, Pleshkova focused on domestic starts, repeatedly winning the Russian Cup. In 2023, she won gold at the Russian Championships in parallel slalom; in 2024, gold in super combined, slalom and supergiant. In the same year, she won the giant slalom at the Spartakiad.
In 2025, the athlete won gold at the Russian Championships in downhill and supergiant, and also won silver in giant slalom.
Pleshkova's first international start after the Russians were suspended occurred on January 10, 2026. The alpine skier finished 51st in the downhill at the World Cup in Austria, and four days later took third place in the supergiant at the FIS tournament in Germany. On January 17, at the World Cup in Italy, she placed 40th in the downhill and 48th in the supergiant.
