In St. Petersburg, fraudsters swindled almost 15 million rubles from a local pensioner. This was reported by the press service of the regional headquarters of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on Friday, February 6.

An elderly man from the village of Olgino contacted the police on February 2. According to the 84-year-old victim, he was contacted by unknown persons posing as employees of various structures.

Under the pretext of saving money, the scammers convinced the Petersburger to transfer 14.8 million rubles to the courier. The meeting took place near the house number 2 on Krasnykh Partizan Street.

Three days later, on Demyan Bedny Street, 26, operatives detained a suspect, a 21—year-old resident of the Tver region. She works as a manicurist, writes 78.ru .

A criminal case has been opened under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Fraud on an especially large scale"). The issue of choosing a preventive measure is being resolved.

Earlier it was reported that scammers can attack owners of suburban areas in Russia. The attackers are speculating on the topic of additional payments and dacha fees, trying to steal money from potential victims.
