Lavrov pointed to the OSCE leadership's understanding of the crisis in the organization.

Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Kassik and Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Feridun Sinirlioglu have an understanding of the depth of the crisis in the organization. This was announced on February 6 by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

"It seems to us that the Swiss presidency and the Secretary General have an understanding of the depth of the crisis," Sergey Lavrov said at a press conference following the talks.

He also noted that the Swiss Presidency has a desire to overcome the current situation. Lavrov added that NATO has set a goal to force the OSCE to serve its goals.

The Russian Foreign Minister stressed that the organization's crisis was caused by the actions of the EU and the North Atlantic Alliance, which, long before the Ukrainian conflict, had set the goal of using the OSCE to their advantage.

Earlier in the day, Lavrov pointed to the real threat of self-destruction of the OSCE. The Russian Foreign Minister explained that the reason for the crisis was the radical departure of most Western countries from the principles laid down in the Helsinki Final Act and subsequent declarations of the organization. At the same time, Lavrov noted that Russia appreciates Switzerland's interest as the OSCE chairman in a specific diplomatic dialogue with Moscow.
