- Putin called Gagloev a principled supporter of relations between Russia and South Ossetia.
Russian President Vladimir Putin called his South Ossetian counterpart Alan Gagloev a principled supporter of relations between Moscow and Tskhinvali. The corresponding telegram was published on the official website of the President of the Republic of South Ossetia (RSO).
"In Russia, you are known as a principled and consistent supporter of strengthening friendly and allied relations between Moscow and Tskhinvali," the statement said.
The Russian leader also expressed confidence in the constructive development of cooperation between the two countries in all areas and for the benefit of the Russian and South Ossetian peoples. Putin also wished Gagloev good health and success in government activities.
This message was sent on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the President of South Ossetia.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said last October that Russia would continue to help Tskhinvali ensure security, stability and sustainable development. He also believes that South Ossetia is showing stable development, with GDP growing by 27.5% over the past five years and foreign trade increasing by 14.5%.
