Kyrgyzstan considers itself to be a part of the Russian world and culture and is not going to renounce it. This was announced on February 6 by Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic Edil Baysalov.

"We are a part of the Russian world — not in a political sense, but in a cultural sense. I was raised on great Russian literature and I'm not going to give it up," he said in an interview with the news agency. 24.kg .

Baisalov clarified that Kyrgyzstan is not going to become a monolingual state, since the information space on its territory is formed mainly by Russian-language content. He added that based on this, the Russian language would not be banned or artificially oppressed.

Accordingly, the Deputy Prime Minister denied information about alleged attempts by the republic's authorities to abolish the country's cultural past. According to him, Kyrgyzstan respects the representatives of the older generation, who still have nostalgia for life in the USSR.

On November 27, 2025, Russian President Vladimir Putin thanked Kyrgyzstan for consolidating Russian as an official language. He clarified that the parties who have a common past inherited from him non-transitory things such as interpersonal ties, culture and language. The Russian leader clarified that Moscow and Bishkek have a lot of areas for joint work.
