Starting from September 1 of this year, Russia may tighten control over vehicle inspections, and a corresponding draft resolution has been prepared for submission to the government. This was reported by TASS on February 6, citing a source.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation has prepared changes in the control of technical inspections. The initiative provides for the disconnection of unscrupulous operators from the Unified Automatic Inspection System without the approval of the Union of Insurers. This should make it possible to stop scams with invalid diagnostic cards faster, the note says.

The changes will also allow the inspection operators to check whether the car is being used in a taxi (through the FGIS Taxi system). This is necessary so that carriers do not shy away from passing the inspection, which must be carried out twice a year for taxi cars.

In addition, the project plans to give car owners the opportunity to provide the inspection operator with an extract from the electronic register of vehicles containing an expanded list of information about the car, and not just the STS or PTS.

The day before, it was reported that a bill was submitted to the State Duma, which proposes to clarify and expand the current ban on the use of vehicles as advertising structures. It is also proposed to increase administrative fines for violations of the requirements. According to the document, they should be from 10 to 40 thousand rubles for citizens, and from 50 to 100 thousand rubles for officials.
