It is too early to talk about the consequences of the situation around Greenland for Russia's security. This was announced on February 6 by Russian Ambassador to Copenhagen Vladimir Barbin.

"For a substantive analysis of the possible military and political consequences for Russia, we should wait for the situation around Greenland to be clarified," the diplomat said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

Barbin added that the United States, under the 1951 Greenland Defense Agreement with Denmark, has the capacity to implement the necessary measures to ensure its national security.

"In particular, the modernization of the U.S. Pituffik military space base is underway, which is an important element of the early warning system for a missile attack from the Arctic," the ambassador explained.

Ambassador Barbin reported on February 4 that Denmark was conducting accelerated militarization and increasing the number of weapons, citing preparations for a possible future conflict with Russia. According to him, the defense potential in the Arctic, including Greenland, is being strengthened, an anti-missile and air defense system is being created, and new frigates and other ships are being built.
