An investigation has been launched in Norway against former Prime Minister and ex-Secretary General of the Council of Europe Thorbjorn Jagland on suspicion of corruption and in the Epstein case. This was announced on February 5 by the Norwegian economic crimes unit Oekokrim.

"We believe that there are reasonable grounds for an investigation, given that during the period covered by the published documents, he held the positions of chairman of the Nobel Committee and Secretary General of the Council of Europe," Oekokrim said.

No specific charges have been filed against Jagland yet. The investigation plans to examine the issues of receiving gifts, travel compensation and loans related to his previous positions. The police also requested that Jagland be stripped of his diplomatic immunity, which was granted to him as the former head of an international organization.

The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, noted in her Telegram channel earlier that day that many crimes of the world's elites in the West remain without investigation. According to her, this also applies to the Jeffrey Epstein case, as well as other international scandals in which documented evidence often remains without consequences.
