The most healthy winter sports are skiing and snowboarding. This opinion was expressed on February 6 by Kirill Antonov, senior instructor and methodologist at the Department of Restorative Medicine of JSC "Medicine" (Academician Roitberg Clinic), in an interview with Gazeta.Ru».

"In terms of health benefits, classic alpine skiing and snowboarding occupy similar positions. Both types produce a moderate-intensity cardiovascular load: data show that snowboarders often have a slightly higher average heart rate (about 76% of the maximum) compared to skiers (about 67%)," he said.

A combination of aerobic and anaerobic exercise, outdoor activity, and daylight have a beneficial effect on the body. This increases vitamin D levels and improves the regulation of circadian rhythms.

At the same time, snowboarding is usually more likely to cause injuries than skiing.

"From the point of view of health, extreme formats are considered to be the most risky: freestyle skiing, bordercross, downhill. They are the ones that put maximum stress on the joints, ligaments and spine and are associated with an increased risk of serious head and spine injuries in a fall," the doctor warned.

On January 27, about 7,000 runners took part in the 57th Road of Life Marathon in the Leningrad Region. The main route of the race was laid from the western shore of Lake Ladoga from the Torn Ring memorial, two reinforced concrete arches of which symbolize the ring of the blockade, to the Flower of Life memorial dedicated to the young heroes of Leningrad.
