Cuba is ready for dialogue with the United States on any issues, provided there is no pressure and no preconditions. This was announced on February 5 by the President of the Republic, Miguel Diaz-Canel, at a press conference.

"Cuba is ready for dialogue with the United States, for dialogue on any topic that needs to be discussed. On what terms? Without pressure, it is impossible to have a dialogue under pressure," he said.

Diaz-Canel stressed that negotiations should be conducted on equal terms and with respect for Cuba's sovereignty, because "only on the basis of such a dialogue can civilized relations between neighbors be built. He also noted that the country is not alone in the face of increased pressure from the United States and receives support from other states and companies.

Answering questions about a possible military threat, the president said that Cuba is preparing defense systems, updating plans based on the experience of recent international conflicts, but there is currently no direct military situation.

On February 1, US President Donald Trump announced that the United States could hold talks with representatives of Cuba at the highest level, emphasizing the difficult socio-economic situation of the country. In addition, the leader of the United States noted the need to support people from Cuba who live in the United States and have been mistreated by the Cuban authorities.

On the same day, The Guardian newspaper reported on the fuel shortage in Cuba amid increasing pressure from the American president. At the same time, Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel accused the head of the White House of trying to "strangle the island."

In turn, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on February 2 that Russia would provide support to Cuba amid the worsening relations between Havana and Washington. He also called unacceptable economic and military pressure on Cuba, especially the blockade of energy supplies to the island.
