The largest Russian hotel operators have turned off room sales through the Yandex Travel aggregator. This was announced on February 5 on the website of the Russian Union of Travel Industry (PCT).

Earlier, the PCT made an official request to the aggregator not to raise the commission, but the company did not change its decision. There are about 50 thousand numbers under the control of the networks that have left the aggregator.

"The Azimut Hotels network is disconnecting its accommodation facilities from the Yandex Travel aggregator. Unfortunately, the conditions imposed unilaterally by the service do not correspond to market conditions and directly affect the increase in the final cost of accommodation for guests. We stand for transparent, competitive and equal working rules for all market participants," said Maxim Brodovsky, CEO of Azimut Hotels.

Other operators also explained their departure. Vadim Trukshin, CEO of the Mantera Group, noted that the increase in the commission threatens the stability of the industry and contradicts government objectives for the development of affordable tourism. Cosmos Hotel Group attributed the decision to the revision of the distribution structure and the redistribution of booking volumes in favor of its own channels.

Olga Smolkina, Director of the Alean Collection, confirmed the termination of sales through the service, citing conditions that do not comply with market principles. Hoteliers unanimously believe that an increase in fees will lead to higher cost of accommodation for guests, reduce business profitability and jeopardize investment programs, especially for small and medium-sized hotels in the regions. According to PCT and network representatives, aggregators should increase revenue through the provision of additional paid services, rather than by increasing the base rate.
