In the Moscow region, trucks may be restricted during the daytime during snowfall. This was announced on February 5 by the Minister of Transport and Road Infrastructure of the Moscow region, Marat Sibatulin.

According to him, after the snowfall, the Ministry of Transport of the Moscow region came to the conclusion that heavy trucks are one of the main causes of traffic congestion in such weather.

"Currently, a ban on their movement during the day during snowfall on departure routes and an increase in the fine for the absence of winter tires or chains are being worked out," Sibatulin of the Moscow City Duma reports in his Telegram channel.

The Minister of Transport explained that due to the stuck heavy trucks, the services cannot ensure proper maintenance and cleaning of roads due to congestion.

Large-scale snowfalls hit Moscow and the Moscow region on January 27 and 28. Ten-point traffic jams were recorded on the streets. Buses and trams traveled with significant delays. Many kilometers of traffic jams were formed due to the trucks that were skidding. On the evening of January 28, there were cases when people preferred to leave public transport and get home on the MKAD on foot. Forecasters noted that the heaviest snowfalls have already ended.
