Daily consumption of pancakes can create a number of adverse effects for the body. Anastasia Lebedeva, Associate Professor of the Department of Dietetics at ROSBIOTECH University, warned about this on Thursday, February 5.

The specialist noted that regular consumption of such food increases the load on the pancreas. This is manifested in sudden spikes in blood glucose levels, which stimulate the active production of insulin. Over time, this can contribute to the development of insulin resistance and weight gain, she explained.

In addition, the body lacks B vitamins, iron, fiber and magnesium, which can affect energy levels, intestinal function and skin condition, the specialist added.

"An additional risk is associated with the cooking method: frying in oil at high temperature increases the caloric content of the dish and leads to the formation of fat oxidation products, which, with regular intake, create an extra burden on the liver and cardiovascular system," Lebedeva said in a conversation with Lenta.Ru .

In addition, for people with sensitive digestion, pancakes can provoke heaviness, bloating and heartburn every day, especially if refined flour and fatty additives are used in the dough, and if you are prone to gastritis or biliary tract diseases, this habit can worsen the symptoms, Lebedeva warned.

In turn, dietitian Daria Rusakova said that pancakes are a high-calorie product, and are contraindicated in people with overweight, obesity, diabetes mellitus and other disorders of carbohydrate metabolism. She recommended avoiding pancakes with fatty meat fillings for people with cardiovascular diseases, impaired lipid metabolism and atherosclerosis. 360.ru .

Russians prefer pancakes with stuffing, reports RT. Two options turned out to be the most popular — with meat and with cottage cheese.

Earlier it became known that the participants of the Active Citizen project will choose the best regional pancake recipe for Shrovetide, the Moscow City News agency reports.

This year, Shrovetide Week will begin on February 16 and end with the celebration of Shrovetide on February 22.
