Searches were conducted in the apartment of Andrei Chernobai, a deputy of the Altai regional Legislative Assembly from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation. Footage of the search on February 5 is published by Izvestia.

According to the regional department of the Investigative Committee (IC) for the region, in the period from 2022 to 2025, Chernobai, having misled one of the party members, organized her fictitious employment as his assistant.

In addition, Chernobai provided fictitious documents containing deliberately false information about the alleged performance of labor functions by an assistant in the legislature. As a result of illegal actions, funds in the amount of more than 2.4 million rubles were transferred from the budget to the deputy's assistant, which Chernobai disposed of at his discretion.

According to a similar scheme, Deputy speaker of the Legislative Assembly Yuri Kropotin and the chief accountant of the regional branch of the party embezzled 2.2 million rubles. Their offices were also searched.
