Gunners of the Center group continued their work in record frosts in the DPR
The gunners of the Center group of forces continue to carry out combat missions in the Red Army area in record-breaking cold weather. With temperatures below -20 degrees, the units, supported by artillery and drones, are moving forward, despite the complication of drone operations due to frosts.
"We are suppressing the enemy's manpower. We also have anti—battery firing at enemy equipment," said the commander of the gun, Sergeant Ivan Serov, to Izvestia correspondent Dmitry Astrakhan.
According to the fighters, in such conditions the importance of classical artillery means increases. The calculations of the M46 guns work both in coordinates and in the framework of counter-battery warfare. Equipment and weapons are maintained in working order due to constant maintenance and warming up.
According to senior gunner Danil Aptykov, artillery works around the clock and in any weather, and frosts only require additional training of personnel and equipment. So, in cold weather, military personnel work as usual. However, at the same time, they dress warmer, serve the equipment from icing, and warm up.
During the execution of the tasks, the enemy tried to strike at one of the artillery positions. Protective screens and camouflage made it possible to keep the gun operational. After the attack, the crew continued to carry out firing missions, striking enemy fortifications.
On February 4, the Russian Defense Ministry said that a drone crew from the Rubicon Advanced Unmanned technology testing center destroyed a field ammunition storage facility of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the Dnipropetrovsk direction. According to the agency, the task of hitting the target was assigned to the operator of the Lightning strike drone, and as a result of an accurate hit, the warehouse was completely eliminated.
