Over the past day, 170 accidents have occurred on Russian roads, in which 16 people were killed and 211 injured. The 10 dead were drivers and passengers. This was reported to Izvestia on February 5 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

So, in the Volgograd region, at night on the 881st km of the federal highway R-22 Kaspiy, an 18-year-old passenger car driver (with less than a year of driving experience) drove into the oncoming lane on his way from Volgograd to Moscow, where he collided with a tanker truck, after which both cars left the road. The culprit of the collision was killed in the accident, and the 46-year-old truck driver was sent for outpatient treatment after receiving medical treatment.

As a result of 51 accidents, 29 of which occurred at pedestrian crossings and 22 outside their area of operation, six pedestrians were killed, and 46 more were injured in various degrees of severity. Among the injured were 11 underage pedestrians, seven of whom were injured when crossing the roadway in unintended places.

24 accidents involving buses were recorded, in which one person was killed, and 14 more road users, including two children, needed medical help. The reason for 14 bus accidents were traffic violations committed by their drivers. Also, over the past day, 18 accidents involving minors were registered, in which 18 young road users, including seven passengers, were injured. There are no dead children.

The State Traffic Inspectorate urged motorists not to overestimate their strength and to closely monitor their health. You should get behind the wheel cheerful and well-rested, and at the slightest sign of fatigue or malaise, temporarily abandon the trip until you have a full rest or recovery. The lives and health of other road users depend on the driver's well-being.

"Special care should be taken when driving by inexperienced drivers whose driving experience is less than two years. Remember that in winter, you should be extremely careful when driving a car: refrain from sudden rash maneuvers and realignments, observe the interval and distance between vehicles, and choose the speed limit taking into account weather conditions," said the head of the Department of road Safety Promotion and prevention of child traffic injuries of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia Colonel police officer Sergey Hrantskevich.

The day before it was reported that the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia has prepared a draft order, which defines a list of indicators, criteria and frequency of evaluation of the effectiveness of driving schools in Russia.
