Wagenknecht called the EU sanctions against its own citizens fascism
On February 4, Sarah Wagenknecht, founder of the Sarah Wagenknecht Union for Reason and Justice (SSV) party, said that the European Union (EU) sanctions are fascism directed by the alliance against its own citizens.
"Many people are icily silent about the quiet fascism in the center of Europe, if they do not support and justify it with enthusiasm. I'm talking about sanctions against EU citizens, currently mainly journalists and publicists, who are included in the so-called sanctions lists by the EU Council because of their non—conformist opinions," the politician said in a video posted on her YouTube channel.
According to her, in the EU area "there are no more human rights and the right to judicial proceedings in accordance with the principles of the rule of law."
"People are deprived of their means of livelihood and all freedoms <...> the circle of persons subject to sanctions can be expanded at any time by the decision of the EU. This does not require prosecutors, courts, or a legislative framework," Wagenknecht said.
She also stressed that there is no law in Germany that "prohibits looking at the world the way Russian President Vladimir Putin sees it." The politician stated that the EU does not have procedures based on the rule of law, but there are lists of sanctions, since they do not require a legal basis. This tool, Wagenknecht added, is used to intimidate people, which in turn is aimed at their economic and social destruction.
"This is no longer just a gross injustice. This is fascism," the politician concluded.
A day earlier, Wagenknecht appealed to German Chancellor Friedrich Merz to return to purchases of Russian gas. Returning to the most profitable supplier, in her opinion, will allow the state to end its dependence on American gas at inflated prices, thereby stopping the decline of the German economy.
