The process aimed at restoring economic relations between Moscow and Washington is taking place actively and in a positive manner. This was announced on Thursday, February 5, by Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), special representative of Russian President Vladimir Putin for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries.

"Active work is underway to restore Russia—US relations in the economic area, including within the framework of the Russian-American group for economic cooperation, <...> meetings are going positively," Interfax quoted him as saying.

The corresponding statement was made by the head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund following the results of the next completed negotiations with the American delegation. He clarified that representatives of the administration of the head of the White House, Donald Trump, are taking part in the work.

The suspension of the issuance of immigration visas to Russians does not affect this process.

On December 31, Russian Ambassador to Washington Alexander Darchiev, summing up the results of 2025, clarified that this period had opened up opportunities for the restoration of interstate relations. Thanking the people who "did not succumb to the virus of Russophobia" and continued the traditions of Russian America, he added that the former White House administration had practically destroyed relations between Moscow and Washington.
