- The LDPR called for the creation of rooms for mothers with children in the authorities
Mother and child rooms should appear in the Russian authorities where citizens are being received. On February 5, Maria Voropayeva, a deputy of the Moscow City Duma and the first deputy head of the LDPR central office, made such an initiative.
In such organizations with a high flow of visitors, it is proposed to equip "children's" safe spaces with an area of at least 10 square meters. m with children's furniture, toys, books and the possibility of showing cartoons. Under the appropriate conditions, mothers who come to receive a public service or attend a deputy's reception will be able to leave their children, feed them calmly and change their clothes.
"Our families often face a simple problem: there is no one to leave the child with when they need to apply in person, get an appointment, or resolve an urgent issue. We believe that the authorities should create rooms for mother and child. The Liberal Democratic Party will invite the governors to consider this possibility," Voropayeva said.
The parliamentarian said that she had recently returned from a business trip to Saransk, where she saw a "great example": the government of Mordovia and universities already have such modern rooms for children. According to her, mothers calmly solve problems while their babies are in safe equipped spaces with toys, books and cartoons.
"Why is there still no such practice in all regions? Mothers with children should be comfortable everywhere, including when a parent comes to an appointment with a government agency. And this should become the norm throughout our country. It's not just convenience, it's respect for families," the MP stressed.
The initiative is designed to make visiting any government agency comfortable for parents with children: the employment service, the tax office, the passport office or social security institutions. It is proposed to extend this practice to all regions. The idea is aimed at forming a single standard of accessibility of public services for Russian families. If the idea is supported, it could be an important step towards creating a truly family-oriented environment across the country.
On January 25, Deputy Speaker of the State Duma Boris Chernyshov proposed to compensate part of the rental costs for students with children who are not provided with a place in a dormitory. It was noted that the amount of the subsidy can range from 50% to 70% of the average market cost of renting a one-room apartment in a particular city or district.
In October 2025, Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed the importance of improving support for student families. The Head of State also announced an increase in maternity benefits for full-time students and the opening of mother and child rooms at universities.
