About 90% of Russian residents support the life of crows and pigeons in an urban environment, considering them part of the established ecosystem. This became known on February 5 from a survey conducted by the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation.

"More than 89% of the surveyed citizens support the presence of sinatropic birds in the urban environment, considering that they are part of the natural ecosystem (66%) and the decoration of the city (21.3%). Only 6.4% of respondents consider birds to be completely unnecessary elements of the urban environment," TASS reports the results of the study.

As part of the sociological survey, about 8.1 thousand questionnaires were received from residents from 88 regions of Russia.

The presence of crows and pigeons in the city is considered useful by 70% of respondents. The remaining 30% supported the opposite point of view.

On November 26, the Russian company Neiry, a developer of IT products, showed the first biodron pigeons PJN-1. The biodron is a live bird with a chip implanted in its brain. The operator of such a biodron can control a bird by uploading a flight task to it based on the principle of operation of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
