- The Federal Antimonopoly Service will assess the validity of margarine prices from some manufacturers
The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) has sent inquiries to a number of margarine producers to assess the validity of setting prices for products. The press service of the ministry announced this on Wednesday, February 4.
"The FAS has sent inquiries to the largest margarine producers. The agency will assess the validity of their establishment of wholesale and selling prices for products," the Moscow City News agency quotes the message.
The ministry clarified that organizations from 16 regions of the Russian Federation, including Moscow and the Moscow region, must provide information on the production and sale of consumer and industrial margarine, as well as data on cost, wholesale prices and profitability of sales in 2025.
In the event of an increase in wholesale and selling prices for products from the beginning of 2026, the service requested information about its causes.
The FAS will take antimonopoly response measures if there are grounds, the agency added.
Earlier that day, it was reported that the FAS was going to check the pricing of the most popular and sought-after types of bread among Russians, RT reports.
The Service has already sent instructions to its territorial administrations. According to the FAS, the financial and economic indicators of bread producers and organizations that sell products for 2025 will be analyzed. If violations are detected, the FAS will take antimonopoly response measures, the website says. kp.ru .
