During its presidency of the BRICS, India can give impetus to the expansion of the organization. This was announced on February 4 by Andrey Bystritsky, Chairman of the Board of the Foundation for the Development and Support of the Valdai International Discussion Club, on the sidelines of the Russian-Indian conference in New Delhi.

"We expect that some impulses will be given that will allow the BRICS to develop and expand. Secondly, we are waiting for the most important impulse, which is important for everyone, what will be the dynamics of relations between India and China," he told RIA Novosti.

The expert noted that the issue is important for both India and China. Together, just under half of all humanity lives in them, which makes these countries the largest in the world. At the same time, their relations acquire special significance within the framework of the Russia–India–China triangle.

"I think that all the presidencies should lead to more communication between the BRICS members and new tools — financial, political, and organizational - that allow us to intensify cooperation," Bystritsky said.

On January 10, Reuters learned that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) will propose to the BRICS countries to link digital currencies to simplify trade and payments in the tourism sector. It is noted that this initiative may cause irritation in the United States, which warned against any attempts to circumvent the dollar.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on December 4 last year that the possibilities of using national currencies for settlements in BRICS should expand. According to him, no one introduced the task of introducing a single currency in the BRICS. Putin noted that this should be a calm process.
